So it’s been about two weeks since I started the whole YouTube series thing, and I’m liking it. REALLY!

I’ve got three videos up already, and a fourth on the way. Granted I have very few views (less than 20 as of this blog) and the only Like I have is from myself. BUT, I am not so easily beaten.

I’m of the mind that if I keep up at it, and keep improving my editing and my content eventually an audience will emerge. Now I could be completely wrong, but what else can I do?

At any rate, I would love for all of you to check out my videos and offer any insights.

So the first video is up on my YouTube channel, it’s got about 10 views currently. I’m hoping that I can increase that soon as I continue to post videos.

I’ve already got the footage for the next two videos, I just need to edit it. So right now I really I had a Premiere Pro mentor, as well as a mentor for After Effects.

Needless to say if any of you are even proficient in either of those two applications, PLEASE let me know. I could really use some pointers.

New venture!

Well since I got laid off about a month ago I haven’t set foot here on WordPress. However! That is about to change, because here I am.

I’d like to let you all know that I’ve recently started a YouTube channel, and will be posting gameplay videos from various games on there. Currently I’m shooting some videos while playing Minecraft, but I plan to quickly move to other games, such as Star Trek Online, Skyrim, Kerbal Space Program, yadda yadda yadda.

Anyway, I’d really love for you, or anyone to come and check it out! I’ve got a Twitter account, and Facebook page setup as well, and hopefully this is something I can get off the ground and keep doing.

Thanks and let’s get playing!

EXPERIMENT!

So I’ve decided that I’m going to try to “find my voice” so to speak on here. Over the next week or so I plan to experiment with several posting formats, and see which one I prefer. As is I feel that my posts are rather dull. A plain splotch of text, with some links peppered in. So I’m going to try to liven things up, some video here and images there. Who knows what to expect, I surely don’t.

Also, I’d love to hear from some of you. What are some easy steps to take to widen your reader base? What’s your stance on keeping on topic (i.e. does your blog adhere to one over reaching topic or do you cover whatever you want.)? As a reader what do you think about small to the point posts as compared to longer posts covering multiple topics?

These are the types of questions I have, and I assume many people have or have had. At any rate, I do look forward to any and all feedback that crops up from this endeavor.

Star Trek Online VS The oncoming Romulan horde

The launch date for Star Trek Onlines first expansion, Legacy of Romulus, is quickly approaching and I for one cannot wait.

I always liked the Romulans, the gray, somewhat paranoid yet roman-esque cousins of Star Treks beloved Vulcans. The ships that they employed were massive yet graceful, and were nothing like their Starfleet or Federation counterparts.

The expansion looks to bring 3 new playable races, a new faction, a new reputation tree, lots of new ships, a level cap increase, UI improvements and a slew of other enhancements to the game.

Due out on May 21st, a steady stream of Development blogs from Cryptic Studios has been keeping players up to date on what to look forward to in the coming expansion. Coupled with updates to Tribble, one of the two public test servers that Cryptic has for players to experience new game play content, many players have already whetted their appetite and can’t wait for the expansion.

I for one am eagerly awaiting the Legacy of Romulus and all its pointy eared awesomeness.

RAIN!

If you happen to live in Illinois, and more specifically northern Illinois you’ve been inundated with precipitation. Now I don’t mind the rain at all I actually really like the rain. What I do not like however, is that this rain has decided to invade my basement. Now previously the rain and I had a pretty good relationship. It stayed outside, maybe occasionally slipping in around the front or back door when someone was coming or going. However this grievous trespass will not stand.

So I’ve emailed the landlord, and had my lovely wife call him in hope that we can eradicate this bothersome intruder to my man cave.

I just don’t know

Every day I hit the virtual streets of the internet, just as the rest of you do I’m sure, and I’m inundated with news and information. For the most part it’s all horrible, depressing and infuriating pieces. Another child commits suicide because their peers are horrible human beings, and those horrible human beings parents refuse to lift the blinders and be exposed to the fact that their offspring is a horrible human being. Another family is forced to choose paying bills or feeding itself. A family is bankrupted because a family member has fallen gravely ill. One lone individual marches into a public place and slaughters innocents for some unknown reason.

For a short while after these incidents there’s a collective frothing at the mouth as the general populace is infuriated. But nothing gets done. Our elected officials talk the talk, and seem to walk the walk but in the end nothing changes.

A committee is formed, a bill is drafted, a decision might be reached in a few months. The reality however is the wrongs are still being made.

I don’t know what to do, and I’m not sure any one person does. We all have our opinions and our aspirations. Some of them we voice, some of them sit idly in the shadows because they differ too much from what your family, your friends or your partners views are.

But nothing will ever get done like that; things will never change if even one person sits on the sideline quietly because they’re afraid to raise their voice.

I know I stand to the left of nearly everyone I know. I support abortion, universal healthcare, higher taxes, taxing the wealthy, stringent government oversight, wider spread gun control, low cost quality higher education. I don’t believe that a corporation should have the same rights as you or I, because regardless of what any executive might argue a corporation isn’t a person, or an entity it’s a business. I think a smaller government is a weaker government. I think a government that doesn’t aid its citizens is a cold and uncaring one. I think Congress should have term limits; so that new life and new ideas can be brought to the table. I think lobbyists and special interest groups are a cancer on the political system.

I’m slowly realizing that the world my children will grow into is going to be a vastly different one that I have known, and I genuinely fear for them. The world that is taking shape is more ruled by greed and avarice than I feel has existed in the world since ancient times. The titanic gap between the vast majority of people, and those that hold sway over the upper echelons is widening at a staggering rate.

I don’t see how a person, or group of persons who run a corporation can make a decision or series of decisions that leads to, or at the very least greatly contributes to, the massive downturn in, not just the US economic structure but the worlds economy and then walk away virtually unscathed. Those people, those parasitic degenerates should have everything they are stripped away from them and then tossed into prison. There is no difference in my mind to what those people than what a murderer does. Except for the fact that the formers actions have far wider and far steeper repercussions.

I know this post has jumped all over, I know that for many of you your blood is now boiling, I know for some of you, you’re sitting there nodding your head in agreement.

I don’t have a background in politics, economics, law or anything of the like. All I have to go on is what I think, and feel is right and just and fair. I’ll tell you this much, the world I see before me now is neither right, just or fair.

So I challenge you, any or all of you. Do something, anything to enact some semblance of change for the betterment of this world.
